This coaching tip continues our 8 part series on simple strategies for maximizing your student’s ability to learn. These tips come from a lecture by Debra Bell. The fourth simple strategy is the student must have a positive example to reinforce what they learn. Basically, you need to set a good example of a good driver.
Most people think they’re better than average drivers. I bet you think you’re a better than average driver. The good news is, you probably are, since all the preparation for the in-vehicle training that Driver Ed in a Box® gives you provides you with lots of tips or reminds you of habits you may have forgotten or let lapse. It’s important to remember that your student is always learning, even when you’re not actively teaching. When you’re driving, they’re watching you, and they’re learning. It’s important that they see a positive, practical example of what it is they’re learning. In a way, this is driver education for you, too, since it’s important that you also make use of the techniques you’re teaching.
