Today we conclude our series on the 5 Parts of a Successful Lesson, and today’s part is Part 5: Preview the Next Lesson. You’ve finished your review of the day’s lesson and practice session, and now it’s time to talk with your teen about what the two of you will be doing the next time you’re in the vehicle.
This is a simple task. All it really entails is letting your teen know what it is she should be studying in order to prepare for the next lesson. If she’s ready to move on to a new technique tell her what that technique can be so she can read the relevant chapter(s) in the book and watch the relevant video(s) or listen to relevant audio(s).
If you and your teen are going to revisit the lesson you just had today next time, it’s important for your teen to know that so she can reread parts of the text or re-watch a video to help her with areas she may have struggled with (which hopefully you pointed out in your review of the day’s lesson in Part 4).
This is a very simple part of the successful in-vehicle lesson, but it’s a crucial one. And hey, make it fun! For example, tell your teen “Coming soon, to a parking lot near you: Backing and Turning: The Reversening!” Just an idea, and I’m sure you and your teen have your own ideas of what you think is fun.
