State Approved Course!
Driver Ed in a Box® is state approved in California!
Parents using Driver Ed in a Box® to work directly with their teen and supervise their progress ensures the safest teen drivers on the road.
Use Driver Ed in a Box® to fulfill your California state driver education “classroom” requirement. The Driver Ed in a Box® difference, we give you the tools (log sheets, training videos, audio training CDs, mirrors, parent companion and student driver signs) helping you become confident in each phase of driving, mastering the neighborhood, light traffic, freeway, heavy traffic and rural areas one at a time before moving on to the next phase becoming a safe, collision-free driver during the 50 hours of supervised permit time required by the state of California.
At the completion of our classroom, you will send us the affidavit of completion located in the back of our Parent Companion. You then receive your California DMV Driver Education Certificate from the California Extension Corporation. Once you have your permit and have enrolled in a commercial driving school for your 6 hours behind-the-wheel (BTW) driver training phase and have your permit, you will begin our behind-the-wheel phase of Driver Ed in a Box® for the 50 hours supervised practice required by the state of California.
To obtain a Driver’s License, the student must have a verification form provided by the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), signed by a parent or legal guardian verifying that the applicant has COMPLETED a minimum of 50 hours of BTW practice. To obtain a DL 44 form, call DMV’s Automated Telephone Service at 1-800-777-0133 (available 24 hours a day, 7 days per week) to have a form mailed to you or visit your local DMV office to pick one up.
