Driver Ed in a Box® will satisfy all of your teenager’s driver education needs and at the same time teach them to become a safe, collision-free driver. In Oklahoma, Parent-Taught Driver Education is an alternative to conventional Driver Education where parents and students use approved Parent-Taught Driver Education Providers, like Driver Ed in a Box®, to teach their students.
The FIRST step is to apply with Service Oklahoma using the Parent-Taught Driver Education Affidavit Application available online at: https://oklahoma.gov/service/sokonline/online-parent-taught.html
Each minor student must be registered with Service Oklahoma BEFORE beginning Parent- Taught Driver Education. If you are teaching a minor student and you have not received your affidavit and approval number by email from Service Oklahoma STOP and apply now.
The first 6 hours of the classroom included in our course, combined with the Oklahoma Driver Manual, will give your teen all the information they need to pass the testing requirements and receive their Learner’s Permit. Students must be at least 15 years of age to be eligible to start the classroom portion of the course.
Driver Ed in a Box® gives you the tools to work with your teen during the Permit stage. Oklahoma requires that you spend a minimum of 55 hours supervising your teen driver during the permit time, including 10 hours of driving at night. Our course will guide you past the handling skills learned in traditional driver education, giving you the tools you need to teach the skills your teen driver needs to become a safe, collision-free driver. By combining the 55 hours Oklahoma requires with the tools you receive in Driver Ed in a Box®, you will help your teen build the habits of safe, collision-free driving. Driver Ed in a Box® creates habits that are proven to be effective.
The Driver Ed in a Box® program gives you the tools to master the skills of each section of driving (we break it down to Parking Lot, Neighborhood, Two Lane and Four Lane Light Traffic, Freeway, Rural and Heavy Traffic). With our checklist and audio CDs, it allows the student to master the skills required in each area at their own pace before moving on to the next section. All of this is completed during the state required permit time. Once you have had your permit a minimum of 6 months and are at least 16 (Oklahoma state requirements), you can go to the local driver license examiner and take your road test.
“Learning to drive is an exhilarating, and sometimes overwhelming, experience. I have to admit I was nervous when I first began. Driver Ed in a Box® helped to break the process down into manageable portions, and gradually build my confidence. As a result, I now feel much more prepared to drive on my own. By encouraging the parent and student to practice, practice, practice, Driver Ed in a Box® truly helped to equip me with the knowledge and ability to stay collision-free.” – B.C., Warr Acres, Oklahoma
