We get a lot of feedback from both parents and students about the commentary system we use in Driver Ed in a Box®, and one of the most common things people say about it is how much it helps them with communication during the lesson. We’re always glad to hear that because that’s what it’s there for!

It’s more than just simple communication, though, it’s specific communication. There are so many commentary terms, it can seem overwhelming at times, but the reason there are so many is because there are so many different possibilities that must be seen and understood in the traffic scene, and the student needs to be able to let you know she sees them. For every specific situation, there’s a specific commentary term, or at least a specific combination of terms, that will cover it and let you know that your student is correctly reading the situation.

Watch this video to see Patrick Barrett, the Driver Education Guru, explain more about the commentary terms and how they save time, and also how they help build neural pathways.
