I had the distinct pleasure of meeting Barbara Corcoran a while ago, and I learned a few things from her that helped me, and even a few things that can help you as you teach your teen to drive, or learn to drive yourself. To kick off a three part series on what Barbara Corcoran of “Shark Tank” fame can teach us about driver education, here’s part one: Be Bold.

It’s not uncommon for people to be uncomfortable with change. Learning to drive or teaching your teen to drive is inviting change into your life. It’s going to be scary (possibly in an exciting way, but scary nonetheless). My advice to you (that I learned from Barbara) is to be bold. Take that step outside your comfort zone and you will be better for it. Driver Ed in a Box® has the tools to make the transition outside your comfort zone as comfortable as possible, but it will still require some boldness from you and your teen.

You’d be hard pressed to find someone who didn’t benefit from being bold (bold, not foolish). Even if you try and fail at something, every step you take outside your comfort zone expands your world.

Watch this video to see me, Patrick Barrett, the Driver Education Guru, talk more about being bold.
